Our March meeting was cancelled due to concerns over the Covid 19 virus. In fact shortly after the meeting should have happened full lockdown was put into place. We were ahead of the curve!! Stay safe everyone.
In February Christine Miller returned to continue her stories of family research. As always she really took us back through the years, this time back to the war, and her talk was enjoyed by all.
Thank you to all who brought raffle prizes and well done to those with winning tickets.

At our first meeting in the new decade, on 16 January 2020, we welcomed back Kathleen Cartwright as our speaker. She gave a very interesting talk entitled "Kamchatka – Land of Fire and Ice". Kathleen's photographs gave us all a real insight into her trip and she answered several questions following the presentation. The raffle included a £20 voucher for Amarone Restaurant, as always thank you to everyone who brought a raffle prize and congratulations to the winners.
18 of us gathered for Christmas Lunch on 12 December at Amarone Restaurant in Glasgow. This was our first Christmas lunch at this venue and we weren't disappointed. Atmosphere, company, service and food were all excellent and a great start to the festive season. We wish everyone a Merry Christmas and a happy New Year!
On 21 November we welcomed Robert Watt as our speaker. Robert's father – Mr Watt – was unable to join us on this occasion and we all wish him a speedy return to health. Robert gave an interesting talk that increased our knowledge of the world of antiques. As always there were lots of interesting items to look at and we now know that there are many different grades of silver! We also learned that as sugar became more refined the cubes were smaller and more defined and, correspondingly, sugar tongs became smaller! 14 members were present and, as always, many thanks for the donations to the raffle.
Our first meeting of the season was held on 10 October 2019 and was preceded by our AGM. 13 members gathered to catch up on what had happened since we last met and to listen to our speaker.
We held our usual raffle, many thanks to all those who donated items for it.
David Hunter from the Loch Lomond Steamship Company gave an interesting talk about the past and the future of the Maid of the Loch – Loch Lomond's paddle steamer. More information about the ship can be found by clicking this link.
